The Grand Finale
I received a frantic phone call from Al Moffet of the Scottish Highlands committee a few days ago. It seems they planned and advertised a British Car Show at their annual Highlands games next weekend (10/4) and forgot to mention it to us! Those of us who made it to last years show had a good time and highly recommend bringing some earplugs. You will thank us later. The gates open at 9 A.M. and judging starts at high noon! Awards will be given for best of show, oldest, most original and most unique cars. From Nashville take I-24 east to Hwy. 96 east. Go through Murfreesboro and follow the signs to MTSU and the games. There is no charge for the car show.
I also received a call from our own George Ross. Seems he has arranged a class just for British Cars at the Antique Auto Club’s annual show on the 18th of October. If we have 5 cars there they will permanently add this class to the show which I would very much like to see happen. Registration is from 8 until noon, judging begins at 12:30. Entry fee is $10 and dash plaques will be given to the first 175 cars. 1st, 2nd and 3rd places given in each class. The show will be held in Pinkerton park in Franklin, TN. Take I-65 south from Nashville to Hwy.96 west to the park which is about 2 miles on the right.
Then on the 19th the NBCC and B&B Productions present a notable, eclectic event with something for every taste:
}Beautiful leaves and winding country roads? It’s fall in Tennessee isn’t it?
}Have a late lunch on the verandah of a restored antebellum home, then ride on the "war wagon"? Of course!
}A contest? With fantastic, expensive trophies? Certainly!
}An opportunity to see actual pieces of Noah’s Ark and other archeological oddities? You can count on it!
Enjoy all this and more on the NBCC’s fall colour and backroads culture tour. Assemble on the square in Franklin, TN at 12:30 and depart at 1. Late lunch approximately 2:30. Reservations for lunch ($15 or so) required by October 10th. Call 615-381-4895. Leave a message if necessary. This will be a tour to remember.
Don’t miss it!
