Another Year Gone

Y et another summer slips by and now it’s time to prepare for winter. This means we will be holding tech sessions and celebrating Christmas soon. Reflecting on this year’s club events, I find it difficult to choose a favorite. All hold good memories.  Beginning with the tech session christening
George’s new shop, March’s tour and dinner followed by Carl George’s vintage racing speech and really neat bronze racing cars, the Park’s tour stopping at a nursery and the new Bicentennial Mall, touring the Zoo, another great show for us in May, cruising to Rawlings Restaraunt to sample their
famous catfish, the Indy ‘96 experience, a beautiful race to Texana Grill in July, a nice long tour to Edgar Evins State Park for a picnic, the A-H Club Southeastern Classic, the Scottish Highland Games, and finally the fabulous trip to Primm Springs Resort down arguably some of the prettiest roads in Tennessee at the peak of fall colors. Whew! Not to mention the Walter Mitty
Challenge in Atlanta in April, car shows in Townsend, Louisville, Chateau Élan, Charlotte,Sevierville, Memphis and Chattanooga. Add to this Austin-Healey Club events every month as well and you have a very full calendar. (At least we did). We as a club want to thank all of you who helped put
together tours and helped at the show. It takes a lot of team work to make everything come together as planned and we are very lucky we have people who are willing to give of their time unselfishly solely for our benefit. Believe me it’s pretty much taken for granted and it shouldn’t be. We want to see more of you participating next year in even a small capacity. Many hands make light work not to mention that warm and fuzzy feeling you get when you help your friends. Start now by getting out some maps and finding a neat looking out of the way spot to tour to. Or, mark your calendar to help
us with the show on May 24th. Not confident in your map reading abilities? Call me.I can hook you up with someone to help you put together a drive and you will have fun just planning it! Either way we want your input to make 1997 another fun filled year. Plan on being at our spring business meeting so your voice can be heard!

Dec. 8th
Nov. 29th
December 8th is our annual Christmas Dinner. This is always a big event for the Club and is usually our best turn out. I hope you have made your reservations and we will see you at Merchants Restaurant about 6:30. If you haven’t RSVP’d yet you may do so by calling Cynthia King at 385-0519. Please do so before November 30th.
If any of you are interested in the British Car invasion at Road Atlanta Raceway on November 29th please let me know. Mike King and I are planning to go down with his MGB and would like to caravan with you if possible. This should prove to be a wonderful opportunity to drive your car
around the track with professional instructors and then by yourself.

A Letter From MTAHC
The following is a letter sent to the NBCC members who helped with the Austin-Healey Club Southeastern Classic In September.
Dear NBCC Members, I would like to thank you for your efforts in keeping with your club creed of supporting and promoting the British Marques. Because of your commitment, The Middle Tennessee Austin Healey Club was able to count on your membership to help us in any way that we needed. From the first meeting in February through the event date you, the NBCC, volunteered your time and knowledge in anyway you could so at this time I would like to THANK YOU on behalf of The M.T.A.H.C., your efforts made the difference in having a successful South Eastern Classic X. Thanks again and we look forward to the next time we can all help and support each other.
    Respectfully yours, Robbie Cook President
MTAHC
P.S. Maybe a good start to our logo would be “Brit Backs Brit!”
Ed. note- A donation of $100 was made to the NBCC by the MTAHC.
