All Experts

The following are questions and my answers on an internet program called "All Experts". This program is not limited to automotive. There are many subjects and many techs in each subject. I try to answer questions on MG, Triumph and Jaguar. I restrict my answers to just to US versions as that is all I have any experience on or have info for. For Jaguar I try to cover from the XK-120 up to the Series III XJ-6 (1987) models.

As a tech line "Answer man" for BeckArnley / Worldparts Corp for many years, I had access to an extensive library of OEM manuals spanning over 10 years and 23 brads of import cars. My job was not to just man a hot line. I handled all of the liability claims for the corporation and those of us that had our own shop at home also did a lot of work as "Vendor approval" on new parts that vendors wanted the company to add to our line. In some cases this required that we try the new part on a car and evaluate it for quality and fit.

We had in our line three brands of service manuals and when some manuals were returned to us by our customers (warehouses and parts stores) as damaged in shipment or marred in some way. Rather than trash the manuals the company gave me the ones I wanted and over several years I accumulated almost 400 service manuals as my own library. This made it easier to work on an import car that I was not trained on. Several years after I retired I disposed of 300 + of the manuals and only kept a collection of MG, Triumph and Jaguar manuals as I restored and modified MGs, Triumphs and Jaguars as a hobby. I also enjoy working with PCs and joined "All Experts" to help "Do it Yourself" mechanics that want it keep up or repair their MG, Tri or Jag.

The following are copies of questions and my answers. Some represent my opinion on tech problems and some are straight from the manual.  enjoy!
