Have You Ever Heard This:

(I want the latest CRAP!!) then unlearn this silly and stupid habit unless a service pack fixes a specific problem you are having DO NOT INSTALL IT.... MS's recent efforts with service packs has hosed a number of machines or at screwed dial up networking service among other things on numerous others. This prompted Microsoft to commit itself to beta testing of service packs.
Microsft's statement in it's entirity follows.

(A) drive random/starts:

A common causes of this is a *.PIF shortcut to your floppy drive. Use the Find and enter *.PIF in the"Named" field. Use Browse and select your Windows folder. Check "Include subdirectories." Click the Advanced tab and enter A: in the "Containing text" field. Click Find.

If it finds any shortcuts in the Windows\Desktop or any folder in the Windows\Start Menu structure, they may be causing the problem. Move the shortcut/PIF to a location other than the Desktop or Start Menu and see if it continues.

You Boot & Boot & Boot:

Cut It On & Off all the time---No-No-No:
Causes chip failures, cracks and breaks to all kinds of delicate stuff like circuit boards, chips and etc. Use ctrl-alt-del or the reset button (if you have one) instead.

Speed up your browsing:

If your just wanting information, then go to your options or preferences and reduce the graphics or turn it off. There's more--i'll add more later.

Speed up your system by putting the Swap File in a partition:

Make a 100mb partition and then double click My Computer for properties then Performance then Virtual Memory then ck on the drop-down menu with the available partitions and choose it & reboot.
